Pardon our Progress

Oil brought tremendous wealth to the small, young town of Tulsa during the early 1900's. During this time you could see the fascinating mix of a people jostling to embrace both newness and extreme change, alongside a nostalgia for the kind of history and permanence that cities back east, and in Old World, had. There was also a desire to create structures that would lend status and prestige to the city, its citizens and their different faith traditions. The result, downtown Tulsa features a surprising number, of some of the most stunning houses of worship in this region of the country.
