It is estimated that when Columbus landed there were approximately 30 million bison roaming
the American plains. By 1888 only 541 bison remained. Today, through extensive conservation
efforts there are approximately 350,000 in the US. The first preserve was established in
Oklahoma in 1907. The Bison (or Buffalo) became such a cherished symbol of Native American
and the Oklahoma plains, that it was designated the Oklahoma state animal in 1972. This Art
Deco inspired poster pays homage to our great Oklahoma Bison!
The poster is a DECOPOLIS exclusive created by artist William A. Franklin. Each poster
comes matted and signed with a certificate of authenticity.
